The place in the new house where this library was to be set, though, was so much different from the first setting, that it was clear that it would be impossible to just move it like it was, but instead it'd be a perfect opportunity to expand and rebuild.
This library was constructed without a formal design-drawing approach. The clients total trust and involvement in the project was essential for the success of this space. The ingredients to build this library were as follows:
- Conversations with clients, creating a list for the architecture programme (the problem)
- Reincarnate the basa library on the new house
- Set in the second living room space facing the garden- a spacious high ceiling space, segregated from the central living areas -
- How to activate this place? How to connect it with the living space?
- Books, records, toys, musical instruments, others.
- Parts of the library have to be child height for Cora
- Roughly imagining uses and forms for the existing furniture, and buying / bringing in other furniture to complement
- Designing on site,in contact with the experience of the space and the tools and materials at hand
- Clients participation and total trust
