Our objective was to transform this space into a poetic oasis where someone who works in a factory can rest their spirit. While adhering to an extremely tight budget, the main strategy was to take advantage of the rare luxury of a rooftop with access to the sky in São Paulo's urban landscape, so we aimed for a design that maximized openness to the outside.
Strategic openings on the roof facilitate air circulation, keeping the space cooler during the summer. In winter, the closed windows prevent wind circulation while allowing the sun to warm the area through the plastic membranes. The terrace incorporates a vegetable garden along its perimeter, and a stretched membrane provides shade.
Facing these challenging budget constraints, every element of this project is crafted using cost-effective materials and techniques.
