This Duchampian door was set to open Gabi's Atelier space while closing her office space, or the other way around, alternatively. It is constructed as a wooden exoskeleton, within which cabinets, openings, windows, and fittings of all sorts. These inner spaces are arranged to house Gabi's art collection pieces. It is supported on sturdy gate metal hinges on one side and a caster resting on the floor on the other.

It is a good imagistic example of a project that combines two different moments and tactics of design. First - let's call it - a "cold" drafting design thinking. A project that establishes the position, overall geometry, function, structure, and part of a conceptual framework. And then a second moment of "hot" on-the-spot plastic design decisions that make use of serendipity and couldn't possibly be thought through in advance. This second phase happens using the tools and materials at hand.
